Kinhop Privacy Policy
Kinhop is an app for families and friends going places and planning events together. We only collect what we need to make it work. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you.
The Kinhop developer (an individual; the developer shown on Kinhop's App Store page) is responsible for handling your data. You can reach us at support@kinhop.app.
1. What we collect
- Your account: the name you choose and an optional profile photo; the account identifier Apple gives us if you use Sign in with Apple; your email if you sign in with email. We store only a salted, one-way hash of your password, so we can't see it. We don't use phone numbers for sign-up.
- What you add to events: events you create or join (title, time, place, schedule), your group and private chat messages, the photos, videos, and files you upload, your comments and likes, and when you tap Got It on a change.
- Information organizers add about others: organizers can add a member's phone number (so they can call if someone hasn't confirmed), and can add kids who don't have a phone, choosing which guardian confirms for them. If an organizer added your information, you can ask them or us to change or remove it.
- Notifications: used to tell you about schedule changes, new messages, and join requests. You can turn them off in Settings at any time; the app tells you clearly that you won't get changes while they're off.
- Camera and microphone: used only when you take a photo or record a video in a chat. What you capture goes only to the chat you choose.
- Device information: to send you notifications, we keep this device's push token, whether notifications are on, the app and system versions, your time zone, and your language.
- Feedback: when you send feedback from Me → Send Feedback, we keep the text and up to 3 screenshots you choose. Only our team can see it, and we use it to fix problems and improve Kinhop. It is not shared with any AI service. Your app version, system version, device model, language, and which server the app is connected to are attached automatically so we can reproduce the problem. Your chats and location are not attached. We keep your email only if you check "You can email me about this", so we can reply. You choose the screenshots, so check that they don't show anything you'd rather we not see.
- Access logs: our servers record the IP address, time, and endpoint of each request to troubleshoot problems and prevent abuse. Logs are deleted automatically after 30 days.
2. Photos
Photos you add to an event album are originals, and members of that event can view and download them. When you upload, we remove the location from the photo; the image and the time it was taken stay the same. We read the time taken to organize the album by day.
3. Who can see what
- Members of the same event can see the event details, members' names, the group chat, the album, and your confirmation status.
- Phone numbers are visible only to organizers and people in the same family.
- Private chats are visible only to the two of you. You can only add friends you've been in an event with.
- People without the app who open a personal link from an organizer can see only their own schedule and changes, and tap Got It. By default, the link stops working 7 days after the event ends. It stops working right away if the organizer revokes it or removes that person.
- We do not sell your data or share it with any third party for advertising. The only providers that handle your data to run the service are Apple (sign-in, notifications), Alibaba Cloud (servers and file storage in Singapore; sending account-related emails), and Cloudflare (network access and protection). We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Children
Kinhop accounts are not intended for children. You must be at least 13 to create an account. A child can be added to an event by a guardian as a member without an account. We store only the name the organizer enters and who their guardian is, and we don't collect any information from the child.
5. How long we keep data
We keep your data while you use Kinhop. Photos, chat images and files, attachments, and profile photos you delete disappear from the app right away and are usually removed from our servers within minutes. Any copies left in storage are permanently erased within 30 days. We can't delete copies that other members have already saved to their own devices, so keep that in mind before you share. Our database is backed up automatically every day. Backups are kept for 7 days, then deleted automatically, and are also stored in Singapore. After you delete your account, old data in backups disappears within 7 days as the backups expire. Feedback (text, screenshots, and email) is deleted automatically 1 year after we've handled it, and is kept for no more than 2 years if it hasn't been handled.
6. Your rights and choices
In the app, you can change your name and profile photo, unsend messages, delete photos you uploaded, and block or report others. You can also delete your account in Me → Delete Account. This can't be undone.
- What's deleted: your sign-in details (Apple account identifier, email, and password), your name, profile photo, and bio, your friends and friend requests, your private chats (they disappear for the other person too, along with any photos, videos, and files in them), your Blocked People list, any phone number an organizer added for you, your devices and push tokens, and feedback you sent (text, screenshots, and email).
- Your content is deleted too: messages, photos, videos, and files you sent in group chats are deleted and show as "Message unsent", without affecting other people's replies. Photos you added to albums (with their comments and likes), comments you wrote, and likes you gave are also deleted. Files are removed from our storage.
- Events you created: pass to another organizer in the event, or to the member who joined earliest if there isn't one, and the group chat shows a notice. If no one else is in the event, it's deleted along with everything in it.
- What stays: your spot in each event, shown as "Deleted User", and event records such as your line in sign-up lists and confirmations, also shown as "Deleted User". The event's schedule, attachments, and images belong to the whole event and stay until the event is deleted.
- Reports and moderation records: to deal with abuse and protect other users, reports about you, block records involving you, and records of actions we took on your account are kept for 90 days after you delete your account, then deleted automatically. If a report about you hasn't been handled yet, we keep a text copy of the reported content, also for no more than 90 days.
We can't delete copies that other members have already saved to their own devices. To export or delete your data, or for any other privacy request, email support@kinhop.app.
7. Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we'll let you know in the app. If Kinhop is later operated by a company, we'll let you know in advance and update this policy.
